The work explores themes of rewilding, ecological crisis and human loss of connection with the natural world. As part of her residency with the London Symphony Orchestra,on their Jerwood Composer Plus Scheme, Hollie commissioned Josh to direct the film and they collaboratively devised the screenplay. The score investigates the potential of performed sound, foley and on-location field recording in combination - and uses the film as a stimulus for exploring the complex relationships between sound and sight, humans and ecology.

Screened with live accompaniment by musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra in November 2021, FERAL will be on general release with a final score in 2023.
